By using Licensable, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Description of Service

Licensable helps developers and organizations ensure open-source license compliance by:

  • Scanning GitHub repositories for dependencies using GitHub’s dependency graph and SBOM (Software Bill of Materials),
  • Enriching licensing data with external sources (e.g., ClearlyDefined, curated datasets),
  • Analyzing license obligations and compatibility, and
  • Recommending license decisions when multiple options are available.

Licensable may be offered as a hosted service, GitHub Action, CLI tool, or integration.

  • Interfering with other users’ access,
  • Using it to violate any applicable laws or GitHub terms.

3. Account and GitHub Integration3. Account and GitHub Integration

Licensable integrates with your GitHub account to access repository metadata, dependency information, and source code. By using the service, you authorize Licensable to interact with the GitHub API on your behalf and to read your source code as necessary to:

  • Extract licensing headers or metadata,
  • Resolve ambiguous or missing license information in dependencies,
  • Improve the accuracy of compliance analysis.

We only access the source code for the purposes of license compliance and analysis, and we do not modify, store, or distribute your code unless explicitly authorized by you. All access is governed by GitHub’s permissions model and limited to the repositories you grant access to.
